Vastu Remedies for a Bedroom in the Wrong Direction

Bedroom direction severity ranking
From most auspicious to most problematic for the master bedroom.
SW (Nairutya)
The ideal master bedroom position. Earth element stability supports deep sleep, grounded decision-making, and relationship harmony. No remedies needed ā just maintain.
West
Acceptable. Supports wealth accumulation and career growth. Minor remedies optional not mandatory.
South
Workable with remedies. Fame and recognition zone. Requires colour and material corrections.
North (for master)
Drains authority and stability. Suitable for children/guests, not masters. Moderate remedy protocol required.
East
Insomnia-inducing. Sun-rise energy disturbs sleep patterns. Moderate remedies required.
NW (Vayavya)
For masters, causes restlessness and indecisiveness. Acceptable only for guests and children. Major remedies if used as master.
SE (Agneya)
Causes anger, insomnia, marital conflict. Fire zone is unsuitable for sleep. Full remedy protocol required.
NE (Ishan)
The worst bedroom direction. Causes spiritual disconnection, loss of mental peace, and children's bedrooms here cause academic struggles. Relocate if possible.
Master bedroom in NE - remedy protocol
The most severe misplacement. Apply all remedies and consider relocation over time.
Change the bed's position to the SW corner of the room
Even within an NE bedroom, the bed itself must be in the SW corner of the room, with the head towards south or west. This creates a "SW-within-NE" microzone that partially compensates. Never place the bed in the NE corner of an NE bedroom it compounds the defect.
Install the Helix directional remedy on NE and SW walls
Arrows on the NE wall redirect incoming pranic energy correctly; arrows on the SW wall reinforce grounding. This dual-directional setup is specific to NE bedroom correction.
Place a copper Ishan yantra on the NE wall
Restores the sanctity of the NE zone by redirecting energy into spiritual rather than physical purpose. The yantra partially reactivates the NE's correct Jupiter/Kuber functions.
Keep the SW corner of the room heavy
A steel almirah, large wooden cupboard, or heavy chest in the SW grounds the room's energy. This is doubly important for an NE bedroom. Avoid light furniture, beds with storage only, or hollow wardrobes in the SW.
Avoid dark and blue colours
Light pastels soft pink, peach, cream, light green. Never deep blue, black, purple, or grey in the bedroom. Curtains, bedsheets, and wall paint should all be in light warm tones. Dark colours amplify the NE defect.
Master bedroom in SE = remedy protocol
Fire zone bedroom. Causes anger, insomnia, sexual energy imbalance.
Position the bed in the SW corner, head south/west
Same principle as NE correction - the bed's micro-position should be SW regardless of the room's direction. This is the most effective internal adjustment.
Install a Vastu pyramid in the SE corner of the room
A copper or brass pyramid in the actual SE corner of the SE bedroom grounds the fire energy. For compound effect, choose a 9-chip pyramid with a crystal point on top.
Remove all red, orange, and bright yellow
SE bedrooms demand cool, calming colours soft green, lavender, pale blue. Red bedsheets or walls in an SE bedroom amplify anger and sleeplessness. Immediate removal of all fire colours is the single fastest intervention.
Keep a moonstone or pearl on the bedside
Cooling crystals like moonstone, pearl, or clear quartz reduce the fire-zone aggression at sleep time. Place 1 crystal on each bedside table or under the pillow of each partner.
Never place kitchen appliances or heaters in an SE bedroom
An iron, electric kettle, geyser, or heater in an SE bedroom compounds the fire defect to critical levels. Remove all heating elements. Even hair dryers or straighteners stored here amplify the defect.
Master bedroom in NW or E - remedy protocol
Milder defects but worth addressing for deep sleep and focus.
For NW bedroom: bed in SW corner, head south or west
NW is Vayu (wind) zone causes restlessness. Ground the bed in SW micro-position. Use heavy wooden bed frames, not metal or light materials.
For NW: install a wind chime outside the bedroom door
Harness the Vayu energy externally rather than fighting it. A 6-rod metal wind chime just outside the NW bedroom door converts restlessness into smooth energy flow.
For E bedroom: block morning sunrise direct exposure
East bedrooms flood with sunrise light good for waking up but poor for sleep continuity. Use blackout curtains in the east wall. Sleep position: head towards south or west, never east.
For E: use cooling bed colours white, cream, pale green
The east's pitta (fire-water) tendency benefits from cool colour palettes. Avoid red, orange, or dark shades. Cotton linens work better than polyester in E bedrooms.
