"Dakshinavarti Shankh" also known as "Right Hand Conch Shell" or Valampur Shankha" Size - 4-6 Inches They are very rare and are found only in the Indian Ocean. It is a shell of a large sea snail. According to Hindu scriptures, this sacred shankha holds a very important place in the Hindu religion. It is used before starting any new business or ceremony. It has right-hand twists in the bottom which sets it apart from other shankha. The shankha is often praised as a giver of longevity, fame, and prosperity. Although there are many types of shankha present, Dakshinavarti Shankha is considered the most important one. It represents the appearance of Goddess Lakshmi and is a symbol of great success and fame. It is said to bring all manner of blessings into the owner’s life and family. Shells that spiral to the right are considered especially sacred, the right spiral mirroring the motion of the sun, moon, planets, and stars across the sky. Also, the hair whorls on Buddha's head spiral to the right, as do his fine bodily hairs, the long white curl between his eyebrows and the conch like a swirl of his navel.
