A vastu compass reads the exact direction of a plot or room so remedies land in the correct zone. This one carries six interchangeable overlay charts covering the 8 directions, the 16 zones and the 32 entrance padas, so one instrument handles a quick room check and a full plot survey. Readings are taken from the centre of the space, not the doorway.
Why direction is taken from the centre
The single most common error in home vastu is standing at the main door and reading the direction you are facing. That gives you the door's facing, not the plot's orientation. Every zone-based remedy, helix, pyramid and colour correction depends on the centre reading. Get this wrong and every remedy afterwards sits in the wrong zone.

How to take a reading
- Remove your phone, keys, steel measuring tape and any magnet from the area. Metal deflects the needle.
- Stand at the geometric centre of the plot or room, at waist height, compass flat on the palm.
- Let the needle settle fully. Note the degree, not just the direction name.
- Overlay the chart you need and mark the zone boundaries on your floor plan.
- Repeat at the main door for the entrance pada reading.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use my phone compass for vastu?
For a rough direction, yes. For zone-level work, no. Phone compasses drift near appliances and wiring, and they cannot be laid flat against a plan with an overlay chart.
Do I read from the centre of the plot or the centre of the room?
Plot centre for whole-house work, room centre for room-level placement. Both are used; they answer different questions.
Why does the reading change when I move?
Steel reinforcement, wiring, inverters and appliances all deflect the needle. Take three readings a few feet apart and use the consistent one.
Is magnetic north the same as vastu north?
Vastu work uses magnetic north as read by the compass. You do not need to correct for true north for standard residential remedies.
Does the compass come with instructions?
Yes, a direction-reading guide is included with the charts.
