Every vastu remedy depends on one number: the direction reading you take from the centre of your space. Get that wrong and the helix, pyramid or colour correction sits in the wrong zone and does nothing. A vastu compass is the only tool in this catalogue that other products depend on.
The models below differ in one way that matters: how finely they divide the circle. Eight directions is enough to place a bed. Sixteen zones is what you need for element-based remedies. Thirty-two padas is what a consultant uses to read a main door. Buy for the level of work you are actually doing.
Which vastu compass should you buy
| Model | Divisions | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Vastu Compass with 6 Charts | 8, 16, 32 plus degree ring | Home owners mapping a full flat or house room by room |
| Lensatic Prismatic Vastu Compass | Degree accurate with sighting lens | Consultants, architects, plot surveys |
| Jiten Pyra Compass | Pyra-vastu overlay | Pyra-vastu practitioners |
| Lensatic Magnetic Compass | 8 direction | A quick check before buying or renting |
| Pocket Folding Compass | 8 direction, folding case | Carrying to site visits |
How to take a correct reading
- Clear the area of phones, keys, steel tape and magnets. All of them pull the needle.
- Stand at the geometric centre of the plot or room, compass flat at waist height.
- Wait for the needle to settle completely, then note the degree rather than only the direction name.
- Take a second and third reading a few feet away. If they disagree by more than a few degrees, there is steel or wiring below you.
- Mark the zone boundaries on a floor plan before you buy a single remedy.
Common mistakes
- Reading from the doorway. That gives you the door's facing, not the plot's orientation.
- Using a phone. Fine for a rough check, unusable near an inverter, meter board or reinforced slab.
- Buying remedies first. A wrongly placed remedy costs more than the compass and does nothing.
- Ignoring the degree. A door at 22 degrees and a door at 44 degrees are both north east on an 8-direction chart and completely different padas on a 32-pada chart.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a vastu compass if I am booking a consultation?
No, the consultant brings one. Buy one if you plan to check rooms yourself, verify a property before purchase, or place remedies without a site visit.
What is the difference between a vastu compass and an ordinary compass?
The needle mechanism is the same. The difference is the overlay charts that divide the circle into vastu zones and padas, and a flat base you can lay on a floor plan.
Which compass do professional consultants use?
The lensatic prismatic model, because the sighting lens lets you take a reading against a distant reference point on an open plot.
Does magnetic declination matter for vastu?
For standard residential remedies, no. Readings are taken against magnetic north as the compass shows it.
